I’ve been admiring the pretty, little headwear options over at Wax + Cruz for a little bit. I love the new mixes of print they put together, especially the ikat, and that there isn’t necessarily a specific style or vibe to them. There’s also a definite DIY aura to them, which leads me to wonder what kind of cool combos others could put together with a bleach pen and mixed fabrics.

Being a couple weeks into September now doesn’t mean that summer and the heat are over here in southern California. With temperatures easily surpassing 90* through October, I’ve been taking advantage of snagging discounted swimwear since everyone else’s season is over. As we’re in the midst of the back-to-school season, primary colors are popping up everywhere, fittingly so. (Not that anyone buys workout gear for class though.) Anyway, I love the classic combo of yellow, blue, and red, especially with the variety of hues available on the market. What’s your favorite?

I was on a long search for better looking gym bags for some time and came across Meredith Wendell duffel bags. While these are most definitely not locker room material, they’d still look awful nice on my shoulder.
Customizing stuff online is always fun, for me at least. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve played with mocking up my own Nike ID kicks, just because. Nike’s now brought the same fun to Hurley with their Phantom boardshorts, the surf equivalent of Nike Tempos. Despite it being a milder summer so far here in Los Angeles, we’re still in the thick of it with plenty of time to spend poolside or at the beach. Taking a cue from The Sandlot‘s resident beauty, Wendy Peffercorn, grab a classic red suit and a pair of fresh cat-eye sunnies to keep cool. Throw on some waterproof rouge just for fun.

Pretty swim things abound over at Cynthia Rowley. Glad to see that Ms. Rowley didn’t stop producing unique swim and wetsuit items after her ROXY collaboration ended.
It’s a sad day for my closet as the Quiksilver Women & QSW lines come to an end. Described as being “designed for young women with a coastal mindset and an independent spirit,” I’m disappointed to see it go since I felt it “got me” so well. Since it’s been one of my staple labels since its inception, I’m scooping up styles while I still can. The entire label is now on sale here.
