Hurley_WC

Hurley threw a few national pieces into the market for World Cup product, which is easy to do when Nike’s your parent. Considering how well-received the Phantom boardshort is, I’m surprised to see that only three countries were offered: Brazil, France, and USA.

More surprising to me is that I’d think the France and USA shorts would be reversed. I know that the term “denim” was coined in France, but “blue jeans” were first invented and manufactured in America [e.g. Levi’s]. If anyone knows who’s responsible for these at Hurley, ask them because I clearly need to know.

+ The best season (peony season!) is here, and I’m taking full advantage of it.

+ A needed post-church pitstop at the Drybar.

+ For me, family gatherings aren’t complete without games. Spring afternoons are perfect for outdoor bocce rounds.

Other notes//

+ Kings made it to the West Finals! …but are already down 1-0. #GKG

+ My brother introduced me to melodica covers on YouTube, and I am obsessed, like this Jurassic Park one. Speaking of Jurassic Park, this guy brilliantly turned his SUV into a JP car. Rad.

Happy Monday!

F21_Crochet

Summer 2014 is just starting to pour into the stores and online at Forever 21, and I’ve been waiting to share pieces of it. This season has a strong emphasis on softness and yoga influences, and I’m really excited about some of the key details, including our crochet textures. It’s an easy update to regular athletic mesh and a great option to layer for depth of color. There’s a second set for this group that will drop later this Summer that’s more of a spliced group, so keep any eye out for that.

First and foremost, I apologize if this turns into a World Cup blog temporarily. I will do my best to have some restraint from posting all things soccer.

That said, I love the World Cup and all the anticipation that comes with it. Besides the usual WC gear that comes around every four years, it’s the new and unexpected collections and collaborations that I enjoy the most. adidas’ Skate Copa presents a capsule of national decks for their team riders featuring classic and clean graphics. Do you have a favorite?

Weekend happenings// MSB+ One of my few (and not so grand) items on my exploring list is to visit all 21 of the California missions. My friend Jenna mentioned that her Grandma and I share the same ambition, so clearly I’m in good company. I checked off Ventura, which is just 45 minutes north of my home.

+ Which is your favorite? The city of Los Angeles and Mayor Garcetti are having a vote on new eco-totes to be distributed to the city.

+ Created 800 years ago, these are the OG Pantones.

+ I’m mildly obsessed with the story of Vivian Maier. Can’t wait to check this out.

+ Prada’s new microsite will make your head spin, but it’s a nice trip down memory lane.

+ Some darn good advice to start each day: Daily Advice.

Happy Monday! Cheers!
