I enjoyed a brief stay recently at the Madonna Inn while driving back home down the coast from Sonoma. Known for being ornately and colorfully decorated, there’s no area of the hotel that doesn’t feel special, including the tennis and basketball court.

November, my favorite month, is finally here! One of the best things this month brings is the bounty of Christmas gift guides. My favorite spotting so far has been Free People’s Vintage Loves shop, which featured a surprising number of vintage and vintage-inspired sports items. While they’re all filed under the “For Him” gifts, I think any gals like me would be equally stoked on this. I’m thrilled to see collector items like this being highlighted at a major brand, but I’m also a little selfishly disappointed that collectors will have to be competing with corporations that are scouring the market.
Due to the condition and rarity of these items, a few have been unsurprisingly sold already. For items just as cool, but much lower in price, I highly recommend Etsy for finding that unique gift for the sports fan in your life.

With the start of June unofficially kicking off Summer, Forever 21 launched a special capsule collection that blended sport and swim to inspire more outdoor and water workouts. Water fitness items (surf, SUP) have been at the top of my list to work on since I came on board at Forever 21, so I’m so pleased to see part of that vision come to fruition. As a Los Angeles local, the ocean is one of my biggest inspirations and design influences, which made tackling this collection a breeze. Personal preferences aside, it was great to partner with our Swim team and make product that functions both in and out of the water. The sports bras and leggings are all water-friendly (made of traditional swim tricot), so you can stand up paddle and run in them. To celebrate the launch, I’ll be giving away a few accessories from the line soon – stay tuned!

I loved her already for being a Los Angeles-area local, but her continued expression of grace and creativity is attention grabbing. She has a contagious attitude and style that’s difficult to ignore, which she translated into her own signature line of wetsuits for a number of seasons with her former sponsor, Roxy. Now behind the wheel of her brand, Kassia Surf, Meador continues to share her personal style with all her fellow “mermaids” and gives us the space treatment this Spring in her debut season. The Endless Summer is one of my all-time favorite movies, so I never quite get tired of seeing product inspired by the film despite its ubiquity. To commemorate its 50th anniversary, Dusters partnered with Bruce Brown, the film’s director, on a vibrant set of completes. Take your pick between the cruiser and longboard. Plus, both come with inlaid bottle openers – neat touch.
