Weekend happenings//

Dec17

A [long overdue] family trip to Disneyland/California Adventure for to take in the Christmas spirit was well needed on Saturday. A few highlights:

+ Walt Disney’s immortal words gracing the park entrance.

+ Starbucks done the Disney way. Props to the cast member who called me Princess Belle.

+ World of Color, Holiday edition. // Speaking of, if you haven’t seen Frozen, please do so just for the adorable snowman.

Sunday was spent furiously Christmas shopping followed by a gingerbread house decorating party to celebrate my cousin’s birthday.

Other notes//

+ The cutest Christmas pancakes you’ll ever see.

+ Inside Nike’s Innovation Kitchen with Tinker Hatfield.

Almost Christmas! Hope you’re enjoying the season!

Tomorrow evening is the Heisman Trophy Presentation, one of my favorite sport moments of the year. While it’s about celebrating this season’s top talent, with all signs pointing to FSU’s Jameis Winston as the shoe-in winner, it’s the heritage of the award and the spirit of football that really nabs me. And if tuning in for football reasons isn’t your thing, sometimes some of the attendees make some questionable sartorial choices.

Like I mentioned on yesterday’s post, I attended a golf tourney over the weekend and got a few minutes to talk to Caroline Wozniacki between holes. Despite being pretty chilly by Los Angeles standards, she pulled together an easy and sweet look that I’d gladly steal. Here’s how to get her outfit, plus some “save” options if you aren’t up for splurging.

Weekend happenings//

Print+ If you follow me along on Twitter, you saw that I won tickets to KIIS FM’s Jingle Ball. It was kind of random and just coincidental timing, but my friend Emily and I attended on Friday night at Staples Center. Since the Grammy Noms Show was happening literally across the street, artists were running back and forth to do both shows. A couple highlights above: a surprise appearance by T.I. during Robin Thicke’s set and the crazy energy brought by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis.

+ My dad and I attended the Northwestern Mutual Challenge, which is hosted locally by Tiger Woods each year. Despite colder temperatures (for So Cal, at least) and some rain, it was a pretty stellar event. Above is the view from the 18th hole.

+ Rory McIlroy teeing off. (You can see the rolling fog in the background, which was really beautiful amongst the Santa Monica Mtns.)

+ Catching up quickly between holes with Mike Bryan and Caroline Wozniacki. I used to design for Mike at my old employer, so it was nice to say hello and see him still sporting apparel I did a few years ago. Speaking of Caroline, she pulled together a super cute, yet comfortable outfit to walk the course in. I’ll post her look tomorrow.

+ Christmas is in full swing here! My girlfriends and I made our newly annual trip down to Newport for the Christmas boat parade. Great start to the holiday season.

Enjoy your week!

Los Angeles-based leather goods brand KILLSPENCER recently launched their Athletics line of sport essentials, and the quality looks outstanding.  Made in the USA, KILLSPENCER maintains an excellent commitment to craft, which is clearly reflected in the assortment of baseball, football, soccer, and boxing core items. All that’s missing is a baseball mitt, which I’m sure Spencer and team have already though through.

Weekend happenings//

More like here’s what November looked like. Busy weekdays make for lack of posts, but good weekends make up for it. Sorry for being repetitive if you’ve been following along on Twitter or Instagram.

+ What a game! I was fortunate enough to take in the SC-Stanford game at the Coliseum, which has became an annually great match up. It was Homecoming, too, so the game was extra exciting.

SB

+ A quick weekend getaway: Some of my closest girlfriends and I make a quick trip to Santa Barbara for a few days to enjoy the sunshine and be just far enough away from home to feel like a vacation. SB is gorgeous year round, and the 75* sunshine in November makes me feel a little spoiled. A couple stops at Pressed Juicery, riding bikes around town, and brunch at the Four Seasons were a perfect way to kick off my birthday week.

JT

+  Hey, Justin Timberlake!

NOV

+ My birthday and Thanksgiving often dance around each other, so it ends up being a week of high dessert intake, especially when your friend send you Sprinkles at work. My mom went to town on her Thanksgiving hosting duties and cranked out these beautiful pies, too.

+ My annual kick-off to Christmas shopping is grabbing a cup of coffee and a honey wheat donut at Bob’s then walking around the Grove, followed by some Melrose shopping. How cute is that extra touch by DVF on their street parking?

+ Birthday brunch at Laurel Hardware. I’ve been on a corn pancake kick, and these hit the spot for me.

+ Obsessed with the new MK+A Allure covers. Obviously.

+ Taking in the Chargers-Bengals game this past Sunday in San Diego with family.

Other notes//

+ Late to the party, but really digging Kaufmann Mercantile. Great spot for Christmas shopping, especially for the dudes in your life.

+ If you’ve seen Scatter My Ashes at Bergdorfs or are familiar with their storied personal shopper Betty Halbreich, you’ll get a kick out of her Tumblr.

Happy December!
