+ After nearly four years battling cancer, the 8 year-old daughter of my church‘s founding pastor passed away this weekend. Daisy’s battles and ongoing strength was a such a huge source of inspiration, and I’m sure her story will continue to be spread love and hope for others. Her blog link has had a home on this site since its inception; I’ll be keeping it up for the remainder of the week for those who are curious. Read more here.

+ Iced over roofs, icy cars, & frozen lawns: lots of cold nights and mornings lately.

The weekend was full of family events: celebrating the life of a wonderful grandfather, catching up with out-of-town relatives, playing with the kiddie cousins, and a birthday celebration thrown in.
How’d everyone’s Super Bowl go? The game definitely wasn’t a let down, which is easy when you don’t prefer either team. For the extra stuff, I found the commercials as a whole just good, not great, and the halftime merely okay. Perhaps my expectations were too high…?

+ Finally saw Django Unchained over the weekend. Two things I love about it: 1. it was partly filmed in my hometown of West Hills, & 2. the soundtrack is absolutely killer.
+ Excited for these two upcoming movies: Mood Indigo & Inside Llewyn Davis.

+ Over the weekend I had to say goodbye to one of my, if not main, inspirations: my grandfather. This week will be spent celebrating the life of the greatest example of what it means to live by faith. My grandpa was a man of unparalleled character, tireless work ethic, and was persistent to do the right thing no matter how unpopular. Being named Perfecto is a lot of pressure, but Grandpa certainly exceeded it.

+ NFL players just don’t have the post-game outfits locked down like the NBA. Kaepernick wearing a beanie, oxford shirt, and hooded blazer. Lewis lookin’ like a reverend. [from yesterday.] Pulling for the Patriots in the Super Bowl since the Rams won’t be there for a while. Sad.

+ Anyone watch Downton Abbey? I’m so happy it’s back, and I don’t think I could love the Dowager more. This was my favorite shot.
+ I have a pretty healthy To-Do list going on, but I’m excited about it and trying to keep that spirit up. “Do it today” is my key phrase right now.

+ Yet another trip to the Sprinkles Cupcakes ATM with friends [see Alissa & Caroline deciding above]. The city was packed with people in town for the Rose Bowl, so driving through popular areas was a nightmare.
+ Rang in the New Year with a bad cold. + Breakfast fail from a new pancake set I got.

+ I’m still on a piñata-making kick: a couple of gold initials to mark gifts in lieu of gift tags. + In-N-Out taking part in the Christmas season.
