+ A quick Christmas shopping sugar boost at Bob’s. If you like donuts and find yourself at the Farmer’s Market, give the chocolate honey wheat donut a shot.

+ Merry Christmas from the city of Los Angeles! Parking patrol tricked me into a nasty parking ticket.

+ With the rush of compacting all my Christmas duties only into weekends, it’s been busy to say the least. Thankfully, I was able to take a [quick] break to enjoy my friends’ annual Christmas tea on Sunday. That’s the stuff that makes you enjoy and settle into the holidays: catching up with friends and sharing life together; not the panic of securing the right gift while stalking departing mall shoppers for their parking spot.

+ From here through the new year, I can’t guarantee that I’ll be keeping up on posts. However, I’m excited for 2013 and new areas to improve and add to the site. Cheers!

Paul Lukas, of ESPN and Uni-Watch, recently interviewed Under Armour designer Adam Clement, the man behind this polarizing look. Clement basically has a hand in all uniform or on-field product, and, as someone who’s in the same field, I’m all ears when it comes to designers sharing their vision and design process. This quote from Clement is a personal reminder I’ve found myself repeating often over the years:

“When you do a project like this, you always want to go a little further than maybe you’re even comfortable with yourself, and then you can bring it back a little. I always have to remember that I am not the target audience.”

So much easier said than done. Take a few minutes and read for yourself: Part 1, Part 2, Bonus

Dec10

+ Jack is my go-to mug for the season                        + The Queen Mary at night

+ As a belated birthday surprise, a friend took me to the CHILL event in Long Beach. It was set up in a really cute Christmas-y village, but the ice sculptures stored in a walk-through 12* (TWELVE degrees!) dome are the main attraction.

+ I got together with a few girlfriends, and we headed down south to Newport for the Christmas Boat Parade Cruise. Balboa Island is a little slice of heaven, and I love seeing all the homes done up for Christmas. The closer it gets to Christmas, the more decorated the harbor becomes, so do check it out if you can.

+ I wish this was my weekend. The “Whatever” art and tossed comforter speak to my energy level perfectly right now. In fact, I can’t tell you how many grammatical errors I found when I reviewed this draft; it’s that kinda week.

Other notes//

+ I attended a murder mystery party on Saturday for a birthday, which is always fun. If you’ve never done one, I highly suggest it. Unfortunately, I was the killer, which was a bit of a bummer, but it’s really fun to figure it out and go through the investigation. We did this one.

+ Christmas is just about in full swing here. We picked out a Christmas tree, and I’ve watched a handful of holiday films over the weekend. Just need to get busy with the present part…

+ Did you pick up any of the Target + Neiman Marcus product? Like a c̶r̶a̶z̶y̶ excited person, I ordered the Derek Lam skateboard [as promised] at the midnight release. I also nabbed the rag & bone boys sweater when I saw it in stores.

Breaking weekday character of being in “sport” mode, I want to take a quick minute to enjoy being exactly where I am in life, appreciate where I’ve been, and embrace what’s ahead. Turning 25 today feels like an official number where youth meets adulthood at a unique crossroad. This morning I awoke to be greeted by 26 balloons with notes that each of my family member had written on, as you see in their deflated demise above. That kind and heartfelt act set the tone for my day to absorb the small things and enjoy peace.

Colossians 3:15 “And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.”
